FA Chief To Embrace A New Rule And Evra Stuns Man U !

FA chiefs want only Premiership captains available to refs

FA chiefs hope the Premier League will embrace a new rule where only team captains can talk to referees in a bid to improve player behaviour. A pilot scheme of the project, which is called Respect, is being carried out at grass-roots level in 20 amateur leagues until the end of the season.

FA director of football development Sir Trevor Brooking said if it was successful he hoped the professional game would then adopt the rule. Brooking said: "We are all conscious about the overall image of the game and we know that player behaviour at the highest level can be transferred to the grass-roots, particularly with youngsters.

"We are carrying out this pilot project until the summer and it would be ideal if it could then be incorporated right across the board. "I am sure that many managers would welcome it because it could help eliminate some of those unnecessary bookings that are picked up by players through back-chat to referees or by reacting in the wrong sort of way.

"It is something that we would like to discuss with the boards of the Premier League and the Football League." FA chief executive Brian Barwick has made implementing the rule a personal priority. The pilot project is operating across 20 adult and youth leagues in seven county FAs.

The move was partly sparked by the FA's consultation exercise in grass-roots football, involving around 20,000 respondents, which identified player behaviour towards referees and spectator behaviour towards players as the two biggest priorities to tackle. The pilot scheme also includes roped-off areas for spectators and codes of conduct for players, coaches and parents with associated sanctions.

Evra stuns Man Utd with £120,000-a-week demands

Patrice Evra has stunned Manchester United by his new £120,000-a-week contract demands.
The Mirror says United full-back Evra is demanding parity with the top earners at the club like Rio Ferdinand before he commits himself to stay at Old Trafford.

Evra, who joined United two years ago from Monaco for £5.5million, is currently on £36,000 a week and has just started talks about a new deal. But the 26-year-old's demands have caused a major stand-off with the club after his representatives insisted he deserves to be among their top earners.

Title Race WarCry And 4th UCL Spot

Arsenal Camp - Wenger: My young Gunners can stay course
Arsene Wenger has no doubts his young Arsenal side have the 'maturity' needed to 'dig in' and stay the distance in the Premier League title race.

Man U Camp - O'Shea: Man Utd can win every game we've left

John O'Shea is convinced Manchester United can win the remaining games of their season - in every competition.
If the Reds triumph in their next 26 matches they will land the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.
Defender O'Shea insisted: "We're definitely capable of winning all our matches.

Ji-Sung talking up Manchester United treble
Ji-Sung Park is convinced that Manchester United have what it takes to win the treble for a second time.

Chelsea Camp - Carvalho: Chelsea have silenced doubters

Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho claims the Blues have proved the critics wrong and can sample success on four fronts this season. The Africa Cup of Nations has denied Chelsea of the services of Didier Drogba, Michael Essien, Salomon Kalou and John Obi Mikel over recent weeks, while John Terry and Frank Lampard have also been absent through injury.

However, Chelsea have not suffered defeat since losing 1-0 to Arsenal on 16th December and the Blues could yet record successes in the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and Carling Cup. "We have not slipped up even though everyone expected us to fail because of injuries and the Africa Cup of Nations," Carvalho told the Daily Express.

"But we've not missed a single chance in the competitions. It is a big time for us. "We knew January was always going to be important but we have shown our determination by coming through it. "We have come through complicated situations in the past because of injuries and we can do it again."

Liverpool Camp - Benitez insists Liverpool can claim fourth spot

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez insists his much-maligned squad has the experience to claim fourth spot in the Premier League.Benitez said: 'I think we are the best equipped to be fourth, at least. Martin O'Neill at Villa and Sven (Goran Eriksson) at City may say different and Everton too, but I have confidence in my team.

'We feel we can do it and we must start winning again, that will take us higher again.
'We have enough quality and the experience of playing at this level. That could be crucial because we have been here before. 'The key is to focus on every game and not think about the rest.

Everton Camp - Everton can pip Liverpool for Champions League spot - Moyes

Everton boss Dave Moyes is convinced they can beat Liverpool for a Champions League place this season."We've raised expectations and it'll be tough because the competition is tight."But there's a real sense of confidence through the group. If we play as we can, then we are more than a match for anyone."

Maradona Visit Cobham To Celebrate Di Santo Chelsea move - Video Link @ End Of Post

Tue, 29th Jan 2008

Cobham played host to a football great today as Argentine legend Diego Maradona dropped by to meet the squad and chat with Avram Grant. In an unexpected visit, Maradona stayed for some time, taking in training, chatting with players and signing autographs for everyone around.

The 47-year-old spoke with Grant for an extended spell, before embracing with Andriy Shevchenko and Michael Ballack, and finally conversing with our new Argentine youngster Franco Di Santo, who signed last week.Maradona already knew the Chelsea manager and visiting England, he called Grant to ask if he could attend training.

It was a huge surprise for all the playing staff, with our own number 10 Joe Cole perhaps the most excited by his arrival.Shevchenko, who along with Michael Ballack rejoined training with the squad today, was happy to discuss Maradona's visit.'In the world of football he is a hero for every player, he is an incredible player,' smiled the Ukrainian.

'He is a legend, a hero for everyone, and a fantastic player. He has had a difficult life, but he is doing well now. His look is good and it's important for him.'He looks good, he has lost a lot of weight, and feels much better. He plays some golf like me, but I can't play much right now. Now I start to train and feel good.'

Branislav Ivanovic also joined in with training, and continued his progress towards match fitness by working on his own after the session.Petr Cech was one man not feeling such a high as the others - as Maradona looked on, our goalkeeper lost a 'crossbar challenge' game against his fellow stoppers, and as a forfeit had to return to the changing rooms in nothing but his underwear and gloves.

Jewell sets sights on new season

Derby County boss Paul Jewell accepts his side are as good as relegated and says he would love to fast forward to the start of next season.
The Rams are 13 points adrift of safety with 15 games remaining following the 3-1 defeat at Portsmouth on Saturday.
Jewell said: "If you keep saying the same things you know the players are not or cannot take it onboard.
"I'm getting bored of it and I really am frustrated because you want the season to end now and start again."

Interview: Derby manager Paul Jewell - "But we can't. We've got 16 games, or whatever it is, to play for some pride but some of the things I see in our football just drive me to the brink."

Q&A - Liverpool refinance plans - BBC

The new Stanley Park stadium is central to Hicks's and Gillett's loan plans

By Gordon Farquhar BBC Radio 5 Live sports news correspondent

Fresh doubts have been cast over Liverpool regarding the uncertainty of George Gillett's and Tom Hicks's futures as co-owners of the famous club.
The American duo are hoping to conclude a refinancing deal this week in a bid to secure a £350m loan to repay previous loans and begin work on a new stadium at Stanley Park.
Meanwhile, Dubai International Capital - the investment arm of the Dubai government - are also ready to make another offer to buy the Reds outright.
So what exactly is going on off-the-pitch at Anfield?

WHAT DOES REFINANCING MEAN?
Refinancing is a bit like remortgaging, or consolidating loans.
It is a chance to get rid of some more punitive debts with high interest rates in the short term and replace them with lower repayments over a longer period.
It is designed to help viable businesses facing cashflow problems, such as a successful football club that needs funds for a new stadium!

WHY IS THE CLUB BEING REFINANCED?
Hicks and Gillett need to spread the risk.
They have got a stadium to build and need money at a time when the global "credit crunch" is making borrowing expensive and in some cases impossible.
It's quite normal for businesses to do this. The Glazers did it with Manchester United. It is down to the judgment of the directors as to how they want to run their finances.

DO HICKS AND GILLETT WANT TO SELL LIVERPOOL FC? IF SO, AT WHAT PRICE?
It is very difficult to give a straightforward answer to that. The Americans are businessmen, who are ultimately looking for a return on their investment.

When they take that return might be influenced by any number of things.
Hicks is adamant that talk of selling is out of order; that he has not been negotiating on a deal; and that he is committed to the club.
But we know there have been talks at some level.
Some might argue that Hicks and Gillett are just playing "hard to get".
After all, some offers cannot be refused. But at the moment Hicks and Gillett are giving the impression they are not desperate to sell.
At the same time, DIC do not want to overpay for a stake in Liverpool.
If the position of either party shifts, then a buy-out could probably happen quite quickly.

WHO CONTROLS THE CLUB? HICKS AND GILLETT OR THE BANKS WHO LENT THE MONEY?
Again, it is a bit like the mortgage on your house.
You own a bit and the banks own a bit. If you cannot make the repayments, then the banks hold the security of your property up their collective sleeves.
Normally, a bank would not get involved in the day-to-day running of a business, unless they stop getting the monthly payments.
As long as Hicks and Gillett keep making them, they will keep calling the shots.

WHAT FINANCIAL STATE ARE LIVERPOOL IN?
They are a successful club, benefiting from unprecedented payments from the Premier League's TV deal and strong match-day revenue streams.

The new 60,000 stadium is central to the Americans' future aspirations
However, Liverpool are not as strong as Manchester United and Arsenal, who both have bigger stadiums, while Chelsea are bankrolled by billionaire owner Roman Abramovich.
And now the Reds are loaded with debt associated with the purchase by Hicks and Gillett.
Moving to the new home in Stanley Park is a crucial part of the club's future business growth plans. But it is all about risk.
The club could stay put at Anfield, take the TV money and try and make the most of 40,000 bums on seats each week.
Moving is a longer-term investment, much as Wembley is for the Football Association. It involves lots of cash upfront, but, in the end, it gives you a better return.
But how long are Hicks and Gillett prepared to wait for payday?

IS THIS USUAL BUSINESS PRACTICE FOR HICKS AND GILLETT?
They have made their money through a number of different business models.
Some involve getting into business with debts, then embarking on a period of restructuring and reorganising, making them profitable and then selling them on.

The sports franchises they have invested in have been longer-term interests. Hicks bought the Dallas Stars ice hockey team in 1995 and the Texas Rangers baseball team in 1998.
Gillett bought the NHL side the Montreal Canadiens in 2000 and there are no signs of them being offloaded. But both men are risk takers and risk calculators.

WHAT IS THE TEAM'S OUTLOOK WITH THIS UNCERTAINTY?
It's a bit of a cliche to suggest the players and manager get distracted by this sort of thing. Randy Lerner has had a stable influence at Aston Villa,It is not a given. Some, like Jamie Carragher, are clearly upset at what has been going on, but that doesn't mean he is playing worse or better as a result.
A lot of players probably do not give two hoots.
Fans are upset because their feelings for the club and its history transcend the short-term issues of profit, loss and ownership.
That said, Manchester United had a dip in form during the wrangling that accompanied the Glazer takeover. Perhaps that was a co-incidence, but maybe not.
On balance, you would say that stable ownership with a hands-off approach to team affairs from the owners - take Randy Learner at Aston Villa, for example - probably makes for the best climate.

WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS FOR MANAGER RAFAEL BENITEZ?
If Gillett and Hicks stay, their differences of opinion over transfers and the Jurgen Klinsmann gaffe would make you question Benitez's long-term position.
If Dubai International Capital take over, then it would not be unusual for the new owners to change the management around.
If they come in promising a transfer war chest for the summer, they might want someone different to spend it for them.
But Liverpool might have won the Champions League by then!

Ferguson defends sideline gesture

Sir Alex Ferguson has denied he deliberately aimed an abusive gesture at Reading fans during Manchester United's 2-0 victory on Saturday.

Supporters at the Madejski Stadium have complained that Ferguson appeared to direct an 'up yours' sign at them towards the end of the match. But he said: "All I was doing was expressing my relief at winning one of our hardest games of the season." However, Ferguson could now face a Football Association investigation.

The incident came after Cristiano Ronaldo scored United's second goal deep into added time.
Ferguson had already clashed with Reading assistant boss Wally Downes after the fourth official indicated four more minutes were to be played. When Ronaldo sealed the win, Ferguson appeared to respond to home fans who had voiced their disapproval as he complained about the amount of stoppage time.

It is understood that there was no mention of the incident in any of the official match reports, but the FA could look at video footage. Ferguson has already served a two-game touchline ban this season after being found guilty of using foul and abusive language towards referee Mark Clattenburg during a defeat by Bolton.

Two Chelsea Player In The FIFPro Team of the Year for 2007

After 3.75 million votes were cast by 277,985 users, the uefa.com users' Team of 2007 has been revealed. UEFA Champions League winners AC Milan take three of the twelve positions in a selection which features just two of last year's team, a mix of established stars and new talent and overdue recognition for some of the game's biggest names.

Goalkeeper: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid CF)Often nominated but not selected until now, Iker Casillas has been one of Europe's best keepers. Only 26, he has 73 Spain caps and appeared 84 times for Madrid in the UEFA Champions League. He was in stellar form in 2007, playing a key role as Los Merengues regained the Spanish title. He finished more than 10,000 votes ahead of Petr ÄŒech, with whom he shares a birthday, polling over 90,000 votes.

Right-back: Daniel Alves (Sevilla FC)After just missing out on last year's team, archetypal attacking full-back Daniel Alves edged out archetypal defensive full-back Sergio Ramos in this year's selection. Alves is to the right flank what compatriot Roberto Carlos was to the left. Always looking to attack without shunning defensive duties, Alves was a central figure in Sevilla's second successive UEFA Cup triumph and also scored in Brazil's Copa América final triumph.

Central defender: Alessandro Nesta (AC Milan)After missing out on Italy's 2006 FIFA World Cup triumph, Alessandro Nesta may have had a point to prove on his return and he did so with an excellent display in Milan's UEFA Champions League final. He then helped the Rossoneri triumph in the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup, where he scored a goal in the decider.

Central defender: John Terry (Chelsea FC)John Terry topped the poll for central defender despite the fact that he missed a lot of the year through injury. However, when he was playing, Terry showed enough to confirm his status as one of the best stoppers around. He scored the first international goal at the new Wembley stadium in June and he also led Chelsea to FA Cup and League Cup triumphs as well as to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League for the third time in four seasons.

Left-back: Eric Abidal (Olympique Lyonnais/FC Barcelona)The France defender pipped last year's winner Philipp Lahm by less than one per cent of the vote. However, there is no doubt that Abidal is one of the finest full-backs around. He started the year with Lyon and his partnership with Florent Malouda was one of the strongest left sides in the game as he won a third successive Ligue 1 title. He has since impressed with Barcelona and is France's undisputed number one left-back.

Right midfield: Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United FC)Undoubtedly the finest winger in the world, Ronaldo was in stunning form in 2007. He scored 29 goals for Manchester United in all competitions as they regained their Premier League title as well as reaching the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. In addition, he scored five goals as Portugal qualified for UEFA EURO 2008™. He was selected as player of the year by both journalists and his fellow professionals in England and was also voted Portuguese Player of the Year.

Centre midfield: Steven Gerrard (Liverpool FC)The Liverpool talisman may have lost out to Milan in the UEFA Champions League final, but Gerrard finished well ahead of second-placed Andrea Pirlo in the voting in this category. He also received more votes as captain than any other player, over 40,000. He led Liverpool to a second final in three years and late in 2007 scored in seven successive matches, including the last three UEFA Champions League fixtures as Liverpool reached the last 16.

Attacking midfield: Kaká (AC Milan)With 220,333 votes, Kaká topped the poll overall after a brilliant year which underlined his status as the best player in the world. Top scorer with ten goals as Milan won the UEFA Champions League; Kaká also won the UEFA Super Cup – scoring in the final – and was chosen as best player when Milan won the Club World Cup.

Left midfield: Clarence Seedorf (AC Milan)The most successful player in UEFA Champions League history shone again in 2007 with his fourth final victory. He finished over 6,000 votes ahead of Ricardo Quaresma to be selected for a second time, five years after his previous triumph. His season was highlighted by crucial strikes against FC Bayern München and Manchester United in the quarter and semi-finals en route to another European success and his 100th UEFA Champions League appearance against Celtic FC in December.

Forward: Zlatan Ibrahimović (FC Internazionale Milano)In the past twelve months, the mercurial Swede has added the consistency to the ability and self-confidence he always possessed. He was top scorer for Inter as they won the 2006/2007 Scudetto and he continued in that vein in the final months of the year, finishing as joint top scorer in the UEFA Champions League with five goals in six games.

Forward: Didier Drogba (Chelsea FC)Belated recognition for the Ivorian after he played such a crucial role in Chelsea's Premier League title triumph in 2006. He finished top scorer in the Premier League in 2006/07 with 21 goals, scored twice in Chelsea's League Cup 2-1 final win against Arsenal FC and forced in the winner in the first FA Cup final at the new Wembley in extra time against Manchester United. He also scored four goals in four games as Chelsea advanced to the last 16 of the 2007/08 UEFA Champions League.

Coach: Sir Alex Ferguson. The Scottish manager who led Manchester United to the UEFA Champions League in 1999 gets a long overdue award after guiding The Red Devils to the ninth title of his remarkable two-decade reign at Old Trafford. He has built arguably his third great United team and after reaching the semi-finals in 2007, he will be hopeful of another UEFA Champions League triumph in 2008.

Gunners sell unsettled Diarra to Pompey

Portsmouth have completed the signing of France midfielder Lassana Diarra from Arsenal for an undisclosed fee.The 22-year-old only joined the Gunners from Chelsea last summer but has been frustrated by a lack of first-team opportunities at the Emirates Stadium. Diarra - who has penned a three-and-a-half-year deal - will join his new team-mates for training on Friday and could make his debut in Saturday's Premier League match at home to Derby.

"He's a fantastic midfield player. In my opinion he's already one of the best midfield players in the Premier League and has the ability to be one of the best there is. "He's strong, powerful, quick and can pass the ball. You don't play for France for the last nine or 10 games unless you're top quality. "I'm delighted he has decided to sign for us rather than a host of other clubs. It's great news for Portsmouth Football club," Harry Redknapp told the club's website.
Arsene Wenger splashed out £2million on August transfer-deadline day for Diarra whose contract at Chelsea was due to expire in 2008.

Some Comments Made By Fans
karim321 (Arsenal fan)
"Shame about Diarra, I was surprised he joined in the first place if he was going to be so impatient. Diarra would be a prefect replacement for Flamini. I would rather have seen Diaby go who is not a bad player but provides very little cover defensively and seems a lazy player to me. "
1kaz0 (Arsenal fan)
"he is good but has no patience and isnt loyal"

No1Gunner (Arsenal fan)
"Diarra should have realised he would have eventually got his place in our first team as Flamini's contract is soon to run out and if he doesnt stay with us then that would be Diarra's spot in a instance! but i do feel player like Diarra have terrible attitudes so maybe it is best he is gone! "

To The Arsenal Fans that made comments above or think like Arsenal fans above you all are all wrong because it was Arsene Wenger that Promise him First-Team Football if he is not going to get that why he even leave Chelsea ? He Would have Stay if he knew that Arsenal Wenger going to break his promise of giving him First Team Football.Shame On Wenger For breaking promise and then making money out of Diarra.

UEFA To Change Referee Rules

UEFA are backing a change to football's rules to allow two extra assistant referees in the penalty area at free-kicks and corners. The idea, put forward by UEFA president Michel Platini, is to be trialled at youth tournaments as an alternative to goal-line technology. The experiment will include using the assistants both behind the goal-line and inside the penalty box as extra eyes and ears for the referee.

William Gaillard, UEFA's communications director and Platini's special adviser, said: "Michel Platini has put forward a suggestion to have two extra assistant referees - one at each end. "Some people say it is better for them to stay behind the goal, others that it is better inside the penalty area so that things that go on like pulling and pushing are properly sanctioned.
"They would be just like the linesmen talking through radio system to the referee, who would then take a decision.

"We have the go-ahead from the International FA Board to conduct trials on this and we believe it could work - the game is a lot faster than it used to be and in some instances assistant referees are physically unable to keep up with play all the time."

Great now Chelsea Certainly can get more peanalties with J.T always brought down by opposition defenders time and time again and yet not punished.

England boss Capello has home raided

New England boss Fabio Capello has had his home, accountant's office and several properties he owns raided as part of a £7million tax probe, reports the Daily Mail. Embarrassingly for the Football Association, it has been revealed that search warrants were obtained from a magistrate in October - six weeks before Capello took over as England coach. The details were revealed on Thursday by the Guardia di Finanza (Customs and Excise) officer in charge of the probe; Colonel Gennaro Caramignoli. Caramignoli is carrying out the probe on behalf of Turin prosecutor Marco Gianoglio.

He confirmed that the case involves a possible £7m of undeclared earnings by Capello.
The sums relate to his time at AS Roma and Juventus and his England salary is not part of the investigation. If prosecutors decide there is a case to answer for, Capello could face three years in prison. But as Italy has an amnesty for jail terms of three years or less he is unlikely to go behind bars.

Caramignoli said: "Search warrants were issued and officers visited Capello's home and other properties he owns. "The offices of his accountants, Severgnini in Milan, were also visited and we took away several folders of documents. "Capello has a main home in Leganano, a few miles from Milan, and he also has properties in Milan. All these properties were raided and at all these properties several boxes of documents were taken away.

"I hope to have all the paperwork ready to forward to the prosecutor by the end of the month.
"The sums involved are in the region of 10m and if it proceeds to trial he could be sentenced to three years."
He has been problematic ever since @ Juventus so many probes wonder will he really be found guilty of anything this time round or just like last time not guilty of anything

Very Fake And Funny Spoof 06/08 Chelsea Jersey

Can't Beileve These Fake And Funny Spoof 06/08 Chelsea Jersey are Actually On Sale.I Seriously Wonder who will buy it.

Nicolas Anelka And Branislav Ivanovic To The Rescue

Nicolas Anelka is a much complete Striker compare to Slow and non-dribbling Pizzaro too reliance on teamate back passing the ball most of the time and Off-Form Sheva look out of sort even though he is once a excellent Striker but not anymore.Excellent Signing Despite The Price Tag Just What Chelsea Needed. He will make an impact in Chelsea FC and will help us Win some Trophies this season.

Branislav Ivanovic I don't know much about him just heard that he is a very good defender that can play anywhere in defence.Right back is where we seriously need cover as we only got 1 good right back Belleti.Hope He can take over Belleti Role next time when he turn old As I don't Trust Paulo Ferreria @ all to be honest he is just a blur king that run down the field up and down without thinking and his defence ability is average and same goes for his attacking ability.

Belleti have a great strike and defend ability is good and attacking ability is excellent as he provide great support and cross the ball very well and striker the ball superbly.Great Asset to Chelsea for sure.

Worst Chelsea XI

Worst Chelsea XI:
Goalkeeper: Frode GrodasHad
a name like a hobbit and played like one. Even stuggled to make the Spurs team when we sold him.

Right Back: Gareth Hall
Truly useless. Went to Sunderland and my mate Dave (who is a Sunderland fan) always held me personally responsible for every mistake he made there.

Left Back: Scott Minto
I think he has already made the worst West Ham XI and I guess any Benfica fan would put him in their worst XI too.

Centre-Back: Winston Bogarde
One minute our players were told to attack him as Barcelona's weakest link - the next we signed him and stuck him the reserves on 40 grand a week!

Centre-Back: Frank Sinclair
A bit harsh as Frank always gave his all but his eye for an own goal and knack for giving away crucial penalties gets him in.

Midfield: David Hopkin
Couldn't pass, shoot or stand up. Seemed to improve a bit after we sold him which happened with alarming regularity in those days.

Midfield: Sasa Jokanovic
Came on as sub and got booked a lot for nothing. It was the only way you could tell the Joke was on the pitch.

Right Midfield: Mark Nicholls
A token failed 'Hot Prospect' from the days of Paul Hughes, Andy Myers etc.

Left Wing: Gabriele Ambrosetti
Labelled as the 'Italian Ryan Giggs'. Turned out to be the Italian Lee Sharpe

Forward: Robert Fleck
Great at Norwich but terrible at Chelsea, his awful (non) goalscoring record just edges out Paul Furlong, who was crap but at least managed the occasional goal.

Forward: Tony Cascarino
Another awful signing who couldn't even score in Scotland for Celtic. The t-shirts say it all!

Nice Funny Image should post more of these Well Done Mr Yellowsubmarine.
